Upcoming Events
It’s that time again; Sunday school has started! It is going to
be an exciting year. We will be using a new rotational format that
in normally used during VBS. There are 8 stations that the children
will be able to take part in each week such as cooking, games,
storytelling, music, science, art, movement music, and video. If
you are asking yourself “what is rotational learning and what is the
benefit?”, let us answer that for you…
In a rotational setting, the same Bible story or theme is taught for
several weeks. Each week, children rotate to a different station.
The story remains the same, but children encounter it in different
ways in each station. Repetition is an important part of the
rotation approach. The more different ways children explore a story
or concept, the more it is reinforced in their memories. The variety
of experiences keeps interest high throughout the unit. Teachers
teach the same lesson, with age-level adjustments, for the length of
the rotation. Rotational learning is exciting for students and
teachers alike, as teachers teach to their strengths and students
experience Bible stories in ways they learn best.

September 7th – First day of Sunday school!!!

We are having Sunday school registration at 10:30am before church
services
o
Community rally day at the athletic complex beginning at 12noon.
There will be lots of games, fun and the concession stand will be
open. Please make plans to come and bring a friend.

September 14th – Sunday school classes begin at 10:00am.

September 14th – Teacher installation during church
services at 11:00am.
·
September 21st – 3rd grade students receive
their Bibles during church services at 11:00am.

Brandi Duerksen, a member of Grace Lutheran Church, is a senior at
South Dakota State University in Brookings and will be graduating in
May 2007. Her major is Graphic Design with a minor in
Advertising. She currently works at Planet Kydz in Brookings
where she enjoys working with kids.
She has volunteered her time to paint all of the Sunday School
rooms and has done an excellent job. Brandi was glad to do
it and says she enjoyed painting the rooms at Grace Lutheran for
the kids.
